Beginning at the start of February 2020, I decided to give the Carnivore diet a try. It’s early March and I’m still at it. Carnivore is a radical new idea that takes Ketogenic eating to a new level. We are basically eating zero carbs! Crazy eh? Remember, there are no essential carbohydrates. After a month on a mostly red meat diet, I feel great with no negative effects. I experienced a little diarrhea in the first 2 weeks but that cleared up once my gut adjusted to the lack of fibre. I’m liking it so far so thinking I will stick with it for now.
Carnivore is gaining popularity as more and more people who try it find they become healthier than when they started. Weight loss, cleared up skin conditions, getting off all sorts of medications are just a few of the benefits most individuals are seeing. There is not a lot of evidence on the carnivore way of eating yet but it’s coming. Huge supporters of the carnivore diet are Dr. Shawn Baker and Paul Saladino MD and they have both written books and can be followed on YouTube and social media.
What I eat: lots and lots of red meat, I try to get only grass fed grass finished beef; fish, chicken (bone in, skin on), shellfish, eggs (lots), collagen and bone broth. Organ meats are also an important part of any diet. I try to eat liver once a week and have cod liver in my pantry. Canned tuna and sardines are great too just avoid any that are in vegetable oils, look for them in salt water or water only. I’m sure by now you all know how bad vegetable oils are for you and should be avoided at all costs!
For all you doubters out there that still think red meat and saturated fat are bad for us, THERE ARE ZERO RANDOM CONTROLLED TRIALS THAT SHOW ANYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT CONSUMING RED MEAT! There is a tonne of plant based propaganda trying to demonize meat and it’s all wrong. Human beings have been consuming meat for millions of years. Without meat we would not have evolved to the level we are at today, without meat our brains would not have developed to what we are today. I will say a vegan diet is still better than the SAD diet loaded with sugar and highly processed food-like slop but requires supplementation to be healthy. If eating in a way that needs supplementation, maybe that’s not the best way to eat.
A word about beef and the proper way to cultivate it. Unfortunately most cattle are factory farmed in North America but there is a positive move towards pasture raised cattle. Pasture raised beef is both sustainable and environmentally friendly even having a positive effect on carbon emissions. Do your best to get your meat from small local farmers.

Please comment! I’d love to hear what you guys think of all this. I’ll update as I go along with this way of eating healthy.
