Big Food, Big Pharma!

If you were to promote a diet/lifestyle to the masses that would be lucrative, what would you recommend? Would not a population that was chronically sick but kept alive by drugs well into their 70’s, 80’s and 90’s not be hugely profitable? The big food companies continue to “invent” highly processed inflammatory carbohydrates while big pharma markets drugs to treat the chronic diseases they eventually cause. Back in the 80’s big tobacco companies saw the writing on the wall as smoking was finally proven to cause cancer. Seeing that their profits were at risk they started buying into big processed food companies. Check it out, big tobacco now own many of the large processed food companies. Read “Salt, Sugar, Fat” by Michael Moss if you are interested in learning about this, it’s scary.

Vegetable Oils

Vegetable oils are actually seed oils. Around the turn of the century, companies began to produce polyunsaturated oils from leftover seeds. Go research how these oils are made and you probably will want to avoid them. Crisco was invented as a “healthier option” to replace lard in baking. Why do we think margarine is better for you than butter? Ridiculous! How did we get fooled into thinking canola oil was healthy and coconut and palm oil not. Canola and corn oil can be found in most condiments and sauces. Once saturated fat was demonized back in the 50’s and 60’s, chemically produced polyunsaturated oils were advertised as healthy alternatives because they lower cholesterol. There are studies that suggest these oils are linked to chronic diseases including cancer. Check out the Nina Teicholz book “The Big Fat Surprise”, big eye opener!
